I don’t blog and I don’t scrapbook. Two things I’ve accepted about myself, no matter how much I think I should. One voice in my head says that it’s what I should do to be in the “cute moms” club. But frankly, it’s not me. Now that I got that off my chest….
Tonight (a typical night, Jason on his computer and me on mine – 2 feet apart), Jason says “you should start posting about some of the health stuff you’ve been doing lately”. Me (pulling out the same card I do every time he starts the newest-thing-I-could-blog-about conversation) “I don’t blog”. Jason “People would enjoy reading about it, plus I could actually read up and know what you’re doing.” Me – “Um……<thinking>…..<pausing>” So, here I am. I’m usually not persuaded this easily, but, it’s late so I figure – What the heck!
I’ve never been a huge fan of cow milk. I will pour it over cereal, but something about drinking the luke-warm remnants at the bottom of my bowl of honey-nut cheerios, makes me shiver. I can’t do it. So, today, I decided to whip up my first batch of Almond Milk! I’m an almond fan, so maybe I’m just a little biased, but it was super yummy! And, get this – I actually drank the Cheerio leftovers! It can be done. It was tasty….especially with a little sweetener added in (I tried Agave Nectar and Pure Maple Syrup, although it was a toss up, I think I prefer the syrup). And Brianne loved it too. (I’ll just leave out the part about Beauen trying to dump it in the sink). Here’s the recipe (from Original Fast Foods).
Almond Milk
1 cup Almonds (soak in water overnight, then drain and rinse)
3-4 cups pure water
1-2 Tbsp pure maple syrup (optional)
Place almonds in blender. Add water and blend for 3 to 4 minutes at high speed. Strain through muslin, nylon, linen, or cheesecloth. Add maple syrup if desired. Shake well before serving.
So there you have it. Here’s my “I don’t blog post” just for you…my love.
Life is great! Baby boy Skowronek is due November 3rd, although my kids are hoping for a Halloween baby. Since my cold went away last week, I can honestly say that overall this has been one of my better pregnancies! It has flown by! I have Beauen to chase around everywhere, which makes me forget I’m pregnant half the time (unless he outruns me and I find my self sitting on the floor panting). Of course, now I’m in “project house” mode…I have so much I want to get done! Isn’t nesting supposed to be about preparing for the baby? Oh well. Whatever gets me to install bead board in my kitchen works for me! I did wash the car seat…does that count?
To all my hot sisters, my father’s masculinity, my beautifully sculpted legs, and to all my blogging friends who haven’t given up on me….this one for you! Cheers!
I know, I know…I’m WAY past due for posting, but I had to share a little something with you. Back in the early day’s of 2000, I was lucky enough to be selected as part of THE prestigious Murray Bonko group. Every month for the past 8 years, we’ve gotten together religiously to enjoy a yummy dinner, OD on sugar and pop, and roll for the coveted Big Bonko Prize (many of which have graced my home). Little did I know when we first started, that over time these 7 women would become some of my greatest and most cherished friends. I could literally go on for hours sharing all the wonderful memories we’ve created through the years, both in and out of the game. Because I don’t want this post to sit in my drafts for eternity as I try to perfect it, I won’t get into details. I’ve enjoyed every moment and I look forward to the days that we’ll be rolling with oversized dice, drinking Ensure, and bragging about our grandbabies. Many of you have been on my mind this week so I just wanted to say to all my Bonko Babes, I love you and I’m grateful that you’re a part of my life.
