30 - is it already here?
Not officially - I have 1 week left to enjoy my youthful 20’s. But to make the transition a memorable and enjoyable one, my wonderful husband threw me a surprise party last night! Not only was I impressed that he scheduled a “date” for us in advance complete with a babysitter, I had no idea what was in store for me. It’s a surreal feeling walking into a room filled with friends and family members whom I love and cherish, all celebrating on my behalf. I was crowned “Miss Spectacular” complete with a sash, tiara, and handed a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Just when I thought the evening couldn’t get any better, I was in for the most entertaining night of my life! I took my seat with the panel of judges to decide who my successor would be. Honestly, words cannot describe what happened next. Judge for yourself…

Let’s just say, my jaw has not ached that much from laughing that hard in a LONG time. The pageant was planned to a T with evening gown and an on stage question. While all 5 contestants were absolutely radiant, I must admit I was quite partial to Miss Germany who wasn’t afraid to show off her very muscular legs adorned in fishnet stockings and who shared her belief that “everyone should be a gentleman”. After the scores were tallied, I had the honor of witnessing as Miss Germany was crowned the new Miss Spectacular!
I wanted take a moment to thank my friends and family who were there to celebrate with me. I feel so honored and blessed to know you. Each of you have touched my life in a unique way and in doing so, have made me a better person. I also wanted to extend an extra big hug to all those who took countless hours to make this evening so wonderful for me! Allison, who spent the last few weeks with the phone glued to her ear ensuring I would have a good turnout. Jenn, who has added yet a new skill to her repertoire - pageant director, along with her lovely co-director/MC for the evening, Courtney. Emily, who beautifully transformed the sterile meeting room into party central. My 5 beautiful contestants whose poise, radiant smiles and willingness to wear high heels, bras and pantyhose has just generated world peace. Bren, whose talent never fails to impress me - the invitations were amazing! My sweet mother, who prepared my home for the after-party party (amongst many other things). Annika, who sacrificed her time (and sleep) so Jason and I could rendezvous to a late night showing of Ironman. And last but not least, the master party planner - my wonderful husband, the man I adore, my best friend…my everything! You have given me the best birthday present of all - a memory that will bring me a lifetime of smiles! I love you! The evening could not have been more perfect!
Turning 30 is really old to my five year old - feeling old when my back suddenly freezes while picking up a cheerio - not so old when I talk to my parents - and still a baby according to my grandparents. Regardless of how this milestone is viewed, I don’t mind my new decade advancement. In fact, I’m actually looking forward to it! I know I have so much in store for me, so much to learn and experience. Being 30 won’t be so bad. But turning 40, now…that will be a different story!
I am so sorry that I had to miss it. I am in Hawaii. Happy Happy birthday… you really do deserve the best. You are such a great friend and have the greatest personality. I love you… happy birthday!!!
That was a lot of fun. I’m so impressed that Jason coordinated the whole night in honor of your birthday! Thanks for letting us help you celebrate your milestone birthday. I love ya, girl!
Only the best my love. Only the best.
Yea! I finally have your blog address! That night was so much fun! Can’t wait until Saturday so we can all chat again!
Happy Birthday!!
Nicole - I am soooooo SORRY I missed it!!! I am a loser, I started my treck out there at 8:00 pm as I turned onto Bangeter at Jordan Landing I thought - hmmm I have no kids I am going to go check Children’s Place really quick ….
Long story short - by the time I got out to DayBreak it was 9:20 and I was lost! I drove around for 40 minutes - LOST! It is the first and only time I have ever relied upon the compass in my car to actually guide me.
I was going to call, but it was 10:00 already and when I called home to get the # - Callin was infuriated with the kids and thier friends that had been over -that I gave up near tears and drove home.
I am sooooo SORRY!! I love you so much - you are one of my very favorite people in the whole world and as far as I am concerned no one could replace you as Miss Spectacular.
Please forgive me - Happy Birthday — I love you and I am soooooo SORRY!!!!!
Nicole,
You are a blogger!!! FINALLY! I found you from Allie’s. Happy Birthday! Wish I could have been there it sounds unforgetable!
Hi Nicole! Your blog is so cute and your kids are adorable. I am so sad that I won’t get to see Brianne every Sunday. She is so cute and I feel like I get my little girl “fix” in. Hopefully my second is a girl (I am expecting again and am almost 12 weeks). It’s funny because Brian and I both love the name Brianne too. It’s just so close to Brian, that we will see. You are so sweet and I am sad to lose half the ward including you guys. Just keep in touch.
I just barely looked at your birthday video- so hilarious! What a great husband you have to plan all of that for you! Sorry we missed it- we were at a family party.
