Memorable Morning

Yesterday, the kids and I decided to try out the new Daybreak swimming pool in Eastlake Village. <this is where I would insert a darling picture of my children testing out the waters had I remembered to bring my camera> Jaryn was thrilled to practice his swimming skills that he recently acquired at Debbie’s Dolphins. Brianne nervously showed her excitement as she realized she could barely touch the bottom of the pool but insisted on clinging to my arm just incase. While Beauen, lunging out of my other arm, persisted on getting a drink from the “drinking fountain” spraying from the side of the pool. It turned out that we choose a windy day to swim so it wasn’t long before I was bundling my kids up in towels.

While we warmed ourselves by the edge of the pool, I noticed that we had a perfect view of the new Oquirrh Mountain Temple! And yesterday just happened to be the day that the steeple went up (it’s been resting on the ground for months). Our timing at the pool couldn’t have been more perfect because at that moment, we were able to witness as the crane placed Angel Moroni (or Ramoni as Jaryn likes to call him ) on the steeple! What a cool thing to watch! I would love to admit that I had purposely planned our memorable occasion to a T, but it was sheer luck. That will be a day that my little family will remember for a long time.

I heard about that on the news! They didn’t even announce it, but there were a ton of people there when they put up the Angel Moroni. I’m so glad you guys got to see it! I’m anxious to see the progress on that temple…and to maybe stop by your house too :).
Oh, btw, it’s about time you updated your blog! I’ll be waiting to read Brianne’s thoughts about herself :D.

That’s incredible timing, even if it was coincidentally. Too bad you didn’t have your camera!

My name is Amy Bailey from the Cobble Creek 1st Ward, West Jordan, UT Cobble Creek Stake. I came across your blog doing an Internet search. I am working with the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House and Dedication Committee collecting historical information and the impact of the new temple on the lives of people in the area. I enjoyed your Blog of July 12, 2008. I wonder if you would mind emailing me your thoughts and feelings about the Oquirrh Mountain temple in general and specifically about your feelings as you watched the construction. What have your children expressed about the temple? Please include your ward and stake information.

This will not be published but may be included in the historical records of the temple. If you are aware of others that would like to share their feelings or experiences, please feel free to pass along my email address.

Thank you very much for any information you are willing to share.

    Most Sincerely,
    Amy
